Add an image above the location name in your marker labels to give visitors a visual preview without opening the location. Use it to preview properties, highlight attractions, or showcase places on your map.
Display Images in Marker Labels is available on the Professional plan and above.

Enable Images in Marker Labels
- Go to Appearance > Markers & Labels.
- Under Labels Display, enable Display image with marker label.
- Publish your map to make the change visible to visitors.
This setting applies to all locations on your map. You do not need to enable Always show labels: images also appear when visitors hover over a marker or long-press it on mobile.
Which Image Is Displayed?
Mapme automatically uses the first image in the location’s media gallery. Videos, PDFs, and other media types are skipped.
For example, if the gallery contains a video followed by two photos, the first photo appears in the marker label. To change the displayed image, reorder the gallery so your preferred image comes before any other images.
If a location has no images, its label displays only the location name.
When Do Images Appear?
Images appear in marker labels in the following situations:
- On desktop: when a visitor hovers over the marker.
- On mobile: when a visitor long-presses the marker.
- With persistent labels: when labels are set to appear always or within a specified zoom range.
When a visitor selects a location, the image is hidden from that location’s label because its media is already displayed in the content panel.
Avoid overcrowding your map: We do not recommend combining images with Always show labels when markers are close together. Images and labels can overlap and make the map difficult to read. Instead, show labels on hover or long press, or limit persistent labels to zoom levels where markers are sufficiently spaced apart.

Image Appearance
Images appear above the location name in a fixed-size thumbnail area. Their display follows your map’s thumbnail Fit/Fill setting:
- Fit: displays the entire image without cropping.
- Fill: fills the thumbnail area, cropping the image as needed.
Transparent images are supported. Transparent areas show the label’s background color.
This setting adds images to labels; your marker icons remain unchanged. To customize the markers themselves, see the Marker Customization Guide.
