We’re thrilled to announce that Mapme’s new mobile design is finally here! After many months of intense development efforts, and a number of different iterations designed to address feedback we’ve received from customers, we’re pleased to unveil this major update to our offering. And we’re confident you’ll love it!
The challenge
The Mapme platform features a combination of 3D maps and rich content including text, images and videos. Our friendly, intuitive user interface works wonderfully on desktop and laptop screens, where maps and their related content can be beautifully displayed and easily used.
But on smaller screens, providing that same high-quality user experience, combining both the map and the accompanying rich content, is challenging. This is especially the case considering that Mapme is a mobile web solution, and not a native mobile app.
With users being accustomed to the seamless user experience offered by apps that are designed for mobile, we understood the clear need to provide our customers with a high-quality experience, regardless of whether they were accessing Mapme via their computers or their mobile devices. While refinements we’d made over the past two years certainly offered some improvements, there was still a lot of work to do!
Moreover, recent developments have made animations and gestures that were previously reserved to native mobile applications available for mobile web applications like Mapme. This meant it was high time for us to put a major effort into transforming Mapme’s mobile web offering.
The result
Mapme’s new mobile web interface features numerous upgrades that make the platform easy and enjoyable to use via mobile devices. With intuitive vertical and horizontal swiping, smooth transitions and high-quality animations, the new Mapme mobile design delivers a native app-like user experience with no download or install required.
Here are a few feature highlights:
New vertical swipe
Mapme’s new vertical swipe gesture is key to combining 3D maps with rich content. This feature offers a natural interface for seamlessly switching between a map and its related content, giving users more control over what they want to see. The result is a more pleasant, intuitive and predictable user experience.
Transitions and animations
The new animations offer smooth and natural transitions between views. Even users accessing Mapme’s mobile web application via entry-level Android or iOS devices will enjoy this upgrade. These fluid transitions and animations are key to delivering a delightful experience that keeps users coming back.
Content View control
The new mobile design features three different views: Expanded, Compact and Minimized. Our latest upgrade allows interactive map users to easily move from one view to another. In addition, users can choose the view that offers them the ideal balance between the map and its related content. Map creators also have more control over the mobile experience. They can choose to hide the Compact view, as well as customize which is the default view, users will see when they click on a marker or list item.
