The Map Restore tools allow you to safely restore your map if something goes wrong during editing. These tools help you either return to the last published version of your map or repair potential data issues.
Two recovery options are available:
- Revert to Last Publish – Restore the map to its last published version by removing all edits made since the last publish.
- Repair Map – Scan the map for data inconsistencies and automatically fix known issues.
These tools act as a safety mechanism and should only be used when necessary.
Where to Find Map Restore
The Map Restore tools are available in the editor’s left sidebar menu.
- Open your map in the Mapme editor
- In the left sidebar menu, click Map Restore
Revert to Last Publish
The Revert to Last Publish tool restores your map to its most recently published version.
When you perform this action, all edits made since the last publish will be removed, including:
- Map settings changes
- Locations added or modified
- Category changes
Your previously published map will remain unchanged and will become the current working version again.
The interface displays the date of the last publish so you can confirm which version the map will revert to before performing the action.
Important: Do not publish the map before performing this action. If you publish first, the current changes will become the new published version and cannot be reverted using this tool.
Warning: This action cannot be undone. Once the map is reverted, the unpublished changes cannot be recovered.
Repair Map
The Repair Map tool scans your map for potential data inconsistencies and automatically fixes known issues.
Use this option if:
- Your map behaves unexpectedly
- The map fails to publish recent changes
- Some data appears inconsistent or missing
The repair process typically takes only a few seconds and does not remove any published content.
Important: This action is only available when the map has been published and there are no unpublished changes in draft mode.
When Should You Use Map Restore?
The Map Restore tools are useful in situations such as:
- You want to undo a large set of edits and return to the last published version.
- The map behaves unexpectedly after major edits or data imports.
- You suspect a data inconsistency affecting the map display.
Best Practices
- Publish your map regularly when making significant updates.
- Use Revert to Last Publish when you need to undo multiple edits at once.
- Use Repair Map if the map is displaying unexpected behavior.
