How maps are being used for pandemic relief effort?

by | News

Maps are playing a central role in the media coverage of the Coronavirus. You probably have seen maps showing the extent of the virus spread across the world.

However, maps are also used effectively to help with the relief effort.

We are sharing some popular use cases of relief maps created with Mapme.

Resource map

For people in need, finding which resources are available and where they can be found might be challenging.

Southern Vision Alliance created a statewide map to show mutual aid resources to support those who are disproportionately affected by COVID-19. View the map

Relief help distribution map

Distribution of food and other essential items is very important during this crisis time. Mapme makes it easy to create a distribution map, which helps people in need find the closest distribution point to them.

For example, the Sikeston school district created a map to show the distribution points for free meals during school closure. View the map

Donation spots map

Many people want to help but don’t know where they can donate food or other essential goods for people in need.

We Fight COVID-19 created a donation map to indicate where people can bring donations.

How is Mapme contributing to the relief effort?

A large portion of Mapme’s customers are nonprofits, NGOs, and NPOs. We always try to help by providing generous discounts to nonprofit organizations.

With the Coronavirus pandemic, we are getting many requests to provide our service for free. This is challenging for us since there are significant costs involved with hosting maps.

Nevertheless, we are now offering 3 months of Mapme Plus for free to non-profits who are leveraging Mapme to help those most affected by the pandemic.

If your organization is at the forefront of the pandemic fight and can leverage the Mapme platform, please contact us.
