Mapme provides secure and flexible login options for individuals, teams, and large organizations. Users can access Mapme with a username and password, a Google Account, or a Microsoft account.
Organizations using Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID can allow employees to sign in with their existing corporate accounts. This provides a convenient Single Sign-On experience without requiring employees to create or manage a separate Mapme password.
Corporate identities remain managed through Google or Microsoft, while access to Mapme teams, maps, and features is managed through Mapme’s user roles and permissions.
Mapme Login Options
Username and Password
Users can create a Mapme account using their email address and a secure password.
- Suitable for individuals and organizations that do not use Google or Microsoft accounts
- Simple account creation and password recovery
- Access controlled through Mapme invitations, roles, and permissions
Sign in with Google
Users can select Sign in with Google to authenticate with an existing personal Google Account or a corporate Google Workspace account.
For organizations using Google Workspace, this allows employees to access Mapme using the same identity they already use for company email and other workplace applications.
- No separate Mapme password is required
- Authentication is handled securely by Google
- Google account security settings, including multi-factor authentication, continue to apply during sign-in
- Google Workspace administrators retain control over corporate accounts and third-party application policies
- Mapme administrators control which users are invited and what they can access within Mapme
Sign in with Microsoft
Users can select Sign in with Microsoft to authenticate with a Microsoft work, school, or personal account.
Employees at organizations using Microsoft 365 can sign in with their corporate accounts managed through Microsoft Entra ID, formerly Azure Active Directory.
- No separate Mapme password is required
- Authentication is handled securely through the Microsoft identity platform
- Microsoft account security settings, including multi-factor authentication, continue to apply during sign-in
- Organizations retain control over the lifecycle and security of their Microsoft accounts
- Mapme administrators control team membership, roles, and access permissions within Mapme
Mapme’s standard Microsoft sign-in does not require a customer-specific Entra application, Redirect URL, certificate, or SSO configuration.
Comparison of Mapme Login Methods
| Login Method | Identity Managed By | Separate Mapme Password | Recommended For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Username and Password | Mapme | Yes | Individuals and organizations without Google or Microsoft accounts |
| Sign in with Google | Google or Google Workspace | No | Organizations using Google Workspace |
| Sign in with Microsoft | Microsoft or Microsoft Entra ID | No | Organizations using Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID |
Enterprise-Ready Access Management
Mapme combines identity-provider authentication with application-level access controls. This model is well suited to organizations that want to use their existing Google or Microsoft identities while retaining precise control over access to Mapme.
Use Existing Corporate Identities
Employees can sign in with the corporate accounts they already use for Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. They do not need to create or remember another password specifically for Mapme.
Apply Existing Account Security
Authentication takes place through Google or Microsoft. Security controls applied to the corporate account, such as password policies, multi-factor authentication, account suspension, and sign-in restrictions, remain managed by the organization’s identity provider.
Control Mapme Access Separately
Successfully signing in with Google or Microsoft does not automatically provide access to an organization’s Mapme account. A Mapme administrator must invite the user and assign the appropriate role and permissions.
This provides two complementary levels of control:
- Google or Microsoft verifies the user’s identity and manages the corporate account.
- Mapme determines which teams, maps, and administrative capabilities the user can access. Learn more.
Support Secure User Offboarding
When an employee leaves the organization, the company’s IT team can disable the employee’s Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra account to prevent future authentication with that identity.
As part of the organization’s offboarding process, a Mapme administrator should also remove the user from the Mapme team. This immediately removes their Mapme membership and ensures that both identity access and application access are revoked.
Avoid Complex SSO Deployment
Google and Microsoft sign-in can be used without configuring a dedicated SAML connection, exchanging metadata files, managing certificates, or registering a customer-specific Redirect URL.
This makes deployment straightforward for organizations that want secure corporate login without the implementation and ongoing administration required by a custom SSO connection.
How Mapme SSO Works
- A Mapme administrator invites a user using their corporate email address.
- The administrator assigns the appropriate Mapme role and access permissions.
- The user selects Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft.
- Google or Microsoft authenticates the user according to the organization’s account security policies.
- Mapme verifies that the authenticated email address belongs to an authorized Mapme user.
- The user receives access based on their assigned Mapme role and permissions.
Getting Started with Google or Microsoft Login
- Open the Mapme editor and go to Team Management.
- Invite each user using the email address associated with their corporate Google or Microsoft account.
- Assign the appropriate role and map access permissions.
- Ask the user to open Mapme and select Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft.
- Make sure the user signs in with the same email address that received the Mapme invitation.
No customer-specific Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra configuration is normally required. However, organizations that restrict access to third-party applications may need their Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra administrator to approve Mapme before employees can sign in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mapme support SSO with Google Workspace?
Yes. Employees can use Sign in with Google to access Mapme with their existing Google Workspace account. They do not need to create a separate Mapme password.
Does Mapme support Microsoft Entra ID login?
Yes. Employees can use Sign in with Microsoft with a work or school account managed through Microsoft Entra ID. Personal Microsoft accounts are also supported.
Do we need to configure a Redirect URL in Microsoft Entra?
No. Mapme uses a standard Microsoft sign-in integration that is already configured by Mapme. Customers do not need to register their own Entra application or configure a Redirect URL.
Can our IT department continue to manage employee accounts?
Yes. The organization continues to manage corporate identities, passwords, multi-factor authentication, and account status through Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra ID. Mapme administrators separately manage Mapme team membership, roles, and permissions.
Can any Google or Microsoft user access our Mapme account?
No. Signing in with Google or Microsoft only verifies the user’s identity. The user must also be invited to the Mapme team and receive the appropriate Mapme permissions.
Does Mapme automatically provision users from Google or Microsoft?
No. Users are invited and assigned roles through Mapme’s Team Management settings. Mapme’s standard Google and Microsoft login options do not automatically synchronize directory users, groups, or roles.
Is a custom SAML or SCIM integration required?
No. Most organizations can use Mapme’s Google or Microsoft login options without deploying a custom SAML or SCIM integration. Organizations with advanced requirements such as automated directory provisioning, group synchronization, or customer-specific SSO policies should contact Mapme to discuss their requirements.
