Flexible Ways to Add Location Pins in Mapme

Mapme provides several ways to add locations to your map, whether you’re adding a single place, importing many locations at once, or keeping map data synchronized with another system.

1. Add Locations Individually in the Mapme Editor

• Add locations one at a time using Search or Drop a Pin.
• Ideal when you only need to add a small number of locations.
• Useful when precise placement or manual control is important.

2. Add Nearby Places in Bulk

• Find existing restaurants, shops, hotels, services, and other places within a selected area.
• Select the relevant places and assign them to your Mapme categories before adding them.
• Ideal for quickly enriching a map with nearby businesses, amenities, and points of interest.

3. Import Locations in Bulk

• Quickly add multiple locations using CSV or Excel import.
• Saves time when you already have your location data in a spreadsheet.
• Great for projects involving large numbers of locations.

4. Manage Locations with Google Sheets Integration (Map to Sheets)

• Connect your map to Google Sheets.
• Add and update location data directly from your spreadsheet workflow.
• Ideal for collaborative workflows and maps whose data changes regularly.

5. Programmatic Management via API

• Use the Mapme API to automate location management.
• Add, update, and synchronize locations programmatically.
• Ideal for integrating Mapme with CRMs, databases, and other applications.

Each method is designed for a different workflow, from adding a single pin to managing a large or frequently updated dataset.

When starting with Mapme, we recommend adding a few locations directly in the Editor to become familiar with the basic workflow.

Adding Locations in the Mapme Editor

To add locations directly in the Editor, click Add Locations. You can choose from four options:

1. Search
2. Drop a Pin
3. Add Nearby Places
4. Copy from another map

Search

You can search for:

• An address: Enter a partial or full address. For best results, enter specific details.
• A place: Search by place or business name.
• Latitude and longitude: Enter geographic coordinates in the format “latitude, longitude” (for example, 41.965028, -93.422310).

If an exact address isn’t available, enter a nearby address and manually adjust the location marker. Refer to our tutorial on manually adjusting pin positions for more details.

Drop a Pin

Click anywhere on the map to manually add a location. Drop a pin is useful when a place does not have a standard address or when you want precise control over the marker position.

Drop a Pin is especially useful for events, festivals, outdoor locations, trails, and nature-related maps.

Add Nearby Places

Add Nearby Places lets you quickly find and add existing businesses, amenities, and points of interest within a selected area.

Instead of researching and creating each location manually, you can:

1. Select the area you want to search.
2. Choose place types or search for a specific brand or business.
3. Review the matching places.
4. Select the places you want to add.
5. Assign them to your Mapme categories.
6. Add the selected places to your map.

This is especially useful for maps that need to show nearby restaurants, shopping, hotels, transportation, schools, health care, and other local amenities.

Add Nearby Places is available on the Expert plan and above.

Copy from Another Map

If you manage multiple maps in your Mapme account, Copy from another map lets you reuse existing location data instead of entering it again.

Search for a location that already exists in another map in your account and copy its data into the current map.
